Everyone's favourite yellow digger is back, and heading to the zoo this time.
When the zookeeper notices that the hippo's pool isn't big enough for all the hippos, the little yellow digger is called in to help widen the pool. But when the digger ends up stuck in the newly-dug hole, it's going to take a lot of clever thinking to get it out again...
If you or your kids have read any of this classic series, you'll both enjoy this story. There are five books in this series in total, and this is the third.
Told with Betty's signature rhyming style, kids will enjoy hearing about the little yellow digger's adventures in this story, as well as the creative solution the keepers come up with to get the digger free.
Kids will also enjoy seeing all of Alan's double-page illustrations throughout the story as well, especially the ones with the digger at work and expanding the pool.
There's also an extra challenge for kids as well, as there's a curious duck somewhere in each of the pictures, can your kid spot it?
Overall this is another classic story from a well-known New Zealand duo, and a must for any boys obsessed with big machines.
